The Self &
The Beloved
An exploration of self-knowledge, love, presence and Dharma for people who want to experience relationship from a deeper level of consciousness.
Relationship can become a path of self-knowledge.
We often enter intimate relationships carrying an unconscious expectation that another person will give us something essential to ourselves.
Security. Validation. Belonging. Reassurance. Meaning. Completion.
These expectations are rarely spoken. Yet over time they can quietly shape how we love, how we listen, how we respond to disappointment and how we experience conflict.
The Self & the Beloved begins with a different premise: that the deepest work of relationship is not learning how to get another person to meet our needs, but becoming more conscious of the person who is doing the relating.
As we understand ourselves more deeply, relationship can become less about completion and more about companionship, freedom, truth and mutual becoming.
You do not come here to fix your relationship.
You come to explore yourself within relationship—and to discover how becoming more whole in yourself changes the way you meet another human being.
The work is not one-directional. It is not a teacher delivering answers to participants. It is an experiential process of inquiry, practice, reflection, sharing and discovery.
Not a lecture about relationship.
The teachings provide a framework. The real work happens through direct experience.
Explore
Encounter ideas from yoga, contemplative philosophy and relational inquiry that illuminate familiar patterns in new ways.
Experience
Bring those ideas into meditation, self-inquiry, embodied exercises, dialogue and direct interaction with another person.
Reflect
Notice what emerges without immediately judging, explaining or trying to change it.
Integrate
Discover practical ways to bring greater awareness, presence and freedom into the relationship you return to.
Love without possession.
The beloved is not the person who completes me or belongs to me.
The beloved is the person whose being I have learned to encounter with love, reverence and freedom.
This does not require abandoning intimacy. It asks us to discover a deeper form of intimacy—one in which two people can remain fully themselves while genuinely accompanying one another.
From relationship to spiritual companionship.
The six-day experience moves progressively from examining the self, to encountering the other, to discovering a different possibility for how two people can walk together.
Incompleteness
Seeing the unconscious expectations and relationship contracts we bring into intimacy.
Self-Knowledge
Exploring the “I” that wants, fears, possesses, withdraws and seeks fulfillment.
Karma
Recognizing conditioned patterns and discovering the space between reaction and response.
Presence
Learning to remain present with another person without immediately fixing, defending or withdrawing.
Seeing
Moving beyond projection and beginning to encounter the other as they actually are.
Dharma
Recognizing that each person has a life, purpose and becoming that belongs uniquely to them.
Companionship
Learning to support another person's becoming without controlling it.
The Beloved
Exploring love as reverence, freedom, presence and participation in another's life.
Walking Together
Integrating the practices into a way of being together beyond the retreat.
Come with curiosity.
This retreat is for people willing to look honestly at themselves and to encounter others with openness.
No particular spiritual background is required. You do not need to have studied yoga philosophy or practiced meditation.
What matters more is the quality you bring to the experience.
Participants are asked to approach every person in the retreat—including partners, teachers and fellow participants—with generosity, respect and an assumption of the highest intent.
A partner is welcome.
A partner is not required.
The work begins with the individual.
Couples may attend together, but participants are also welcome to attend as individuals. Much of the retreat is designed to explore relationship through the broader experience of self, other and human connection. You will have opportunities for partnered exercises and shared inquiry regardless of whether you arrive with a partner.
Two sessions each day
Each day includes a morning and afternoon/evening session, creating sufficient space for both teaching and integration.
Teaching + experience
Sessions combine approximately two hours of teaching and conceptual exploration with two hours of experiential practice, inquiry, sharing and reflection.
Contemplative practice
Meditation, silence, self-inquiry and embodied awareness provide a foundation for the relational work.
Shared exploration
The retreat is a community of inquiry rather than a classroom. Participants learn through one another as much as through formal teaching.
The Self & The Beloved
Become more whole in yourself.
Meet another more freely.
Explore what relationship can become when it is no longer organized around completing one another, but around consciousness, freedom, love and mutual becoming.
